Call for entries for Artists
Fiji Arts Council Fine Art Award
12 – 14th December 2019
The Fiji Arts Council (FAC) invites artists to submit their best artworks for the Fiji Arts Council Fine Art Award 2019. Entry is open to all artists who are Fijian citizens, over the age of 18, working on any art medium. All artworks submitted will be subject to a selection process.
The Fine Art Award this year will be part of the “Inaugural Fijian Arts Fest 2019” to be held at the Thurston Gardens/Fiji Museum from the 12th – 14th December 2019. With the theme – The Arts – A Nation’s Soul. Reweave! Recreate! To Sustain Us Today & Tomorrow – it is the primary aim of the festival to promote the concept of artists embracing artists (AEA) whereby artists work towards addressing important issues facing our communities and nation today such as climate change and problems espoused through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while engaging and dialoguing with young people, budding artists, children, and the general public. The arts to be used as a platform to advocate and raise awareness about these issues we face in society.
For prospective applicants, the fine art prizes will be awarded based on artistic merit in the following categories:
- Fiji Arts Council Fine Art Award
- Sculpture Award
- Photography Award
- Emerging Artist Award
- People’s Choice Art Award
One of the main principles of the festival is to foster creativity and innovation therefore there will be no restriction to submissions of works made. The Festival will also try to promote the sharing of ideas and foster new artistic approaches and methodologies so artists can endeavor to try something new.

All artworks are to be delivered to the Fiji Museum no later than the 9th December 2019.
